Apologies!!!: there are photos to come but I'm currently in Dima's office and my camera is at home! I will put them on soon. So far my nearly-two-weeks here has been a whirlwind of evenings out, exploration, meeting Dima's friends, trying Georgian food, learning Georgian and organising classes at Lingua House! Work-wise I already have a solid 23 hours a week, with the possibility of a few more hours on top of that. And once again (as appears to be my destiny!) I have been drafted in for teenage classes. I'm teaching 13-14 year olds on a one-to-one basis, an adorable eight year old boy, two groups of younger kids (10-12) , two one-to-one adult classes and one class with two adults. I can't complain at the workload or the salary: I'm earning more for a P/T job than your average Georgian earns for a seven hours-a-day, six days-a-week slog! The weather here has been good- only one day of autumn so far.
I am very, very content living with Dima and his family: everything has fallen into place very naturally. Nyra is teaching me Georgian on-and-off and though I am picking it up, I'm having trouble finding the courage to open my mouth and use what I know- I keep getting memory-block when I want to say something. I will persevere!!! Nyra hasn't given me much chance to cook- though she was fascinated with the process behind making a spaghetti bolognese (having never seen or tasted it before!). I've made a new friend too (aside from those of Dima's I've met)- a German girl called Nicole who may have some teaching work at Lingua House. We've already been out for lunch and she took me on a brief tour of Old Tbilisi and its cathedral 'Sameba' (Holy Trinity).
Ok- we're off to a friend's birthday party now. I'll write again soon.
Take care
