For mum's birthday this year I thought I'd treat her to another of my culinary delights- and her favourite: a carrot, walnut and orange cake (my first ever!). The packet of candles I chose came from a pound shop.
I chose to put the entire pack of candles on the cake.
They were "magic" candles.
Meaning it was impossible to blow them out.
Meaning they kept burning, the wax kept melting and the temperature kept rising!
Unable to blow them out, we had to rush into the kitchen with the cake so that mum could extract the candles with some tongs and put them out in the sink (whilst laughing!) before they melted all over the icing! Hilarious and unforgettable!
(Though I think next year she can have one [big] candle. And I'll make sure she can blow it out!!!)
